Hydration Tips
How much water do we really need, and what counts in our quest to stay hydrated.
Drinking water is key to glowing skin
Drinking water is the best way to hydrate your skin and get glowing skin naturally. Drink at least eight glasses of water each day, spaced throughout the day. Increase water intake based on activity, weight, and weather.
Proper hydration is essential to our overall health AND beautiful skin – all of our organs function better when we’re sufficiently hydrated. The benefits of drinking plenty of water every day include having a clear, cushioned and radiant skin tone and so much more.
Dehydration will exacerbate skincare issues such as acne, eczema, rosacea, puffiness and dark circles under the eyes.
Water transports nutrients and flushes out toxins throughout your body. If you don’t drink adequate water, toxins can build up, causing breakouts.
When you’re well-hydrated, it’s easier for your skincare products to do their job. So, drink lots of ISHKA Irish Spring Water to keep your cells hydrated and free of toxins. Drinking fruit infusions and mocktails are also excellent and fun ways of staying hydrated. If a little natural twist helps you drink more water, then go for it!
Hydration Tips for 5K, 10K & Marathon Runners

Water is the most essential nutrient and is essential for human survival. It transports nutrients and oxygen throughout the body and removes wastes from the body. It is crucial for cardiovascular function and regulation. Water also plays an important role in body temperature regulation.
Dehydration of as little as 2% of body mass impairs endurance exercise performance. Whether you are a recreational or competitive runner, is important to address your fluid requirements, in order to protect your health and optimise your endurance running performance.
10 Tips for Keeping Hydrated
Low levels of fluid in the body can cause headaches, feelings of dizziness, lethargy, poor concentration and a dry mouth. Follow these six tips to stay safe and healthy, especially when temperatures or your activity levels increase:
- Don’t wait till you’re thirsty to drink. By the time you feel thirsty, you’re already slightly dehydrated. Drink regularly to keep thirst at bay.
- Make sure to limit caffeine and alcohol consumption.
- Eat water-rich fruits and vegetables. Watermelon, strawberries, peaches and pineapples are fruits with high-water content. Try making fruit infused or spring water mocktail to keep it fun!
- Stay inside when it gets too hot and humid.
- Dress for the weather, particularly in warmer Summer months. Wear light, loose-fitting clothing that lets your skin breathe. Wear a wide-brimmed hat in the sun to keep your head cool and use plenty of sunscreen to avoid sunburn, which can increase your skin temperature and make it harder to stay cool.
- Be aware of the signs of dehydration.
- Drinking water may also contribute to a healthy weight-loss plan. Some research suggests that drinking water can help you feel full and suppress appetite.
- Drink water before, during, and after a workout.
- Choose ISHKA sparkling or still water over sugary drinks.
- Keep ISHKA water bottles around the house and in your car and all your bags.
The best advice is to always keep bottles of ISHKA spring water close by to top up fluid levels regularly and keep thirst away.
Finally, we don’t know about you, but for us, if an activity involves using an app, it’s a lot easier to get into that activity, and maybe even get a little excited about it. Keeping up with how many glasses you’ve finished can be easy (and fun) with the help of a free app like Daily Water Free or Daily Water. Download them to your phone to set daily reminders and alarms.
