ISHKA ensures continued legislative compliance by carrying out its activities in line with the E.U. All ISHKA Spring Water products are regulated by the Health Service Executive (HSE) and the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI).
One of Ireland’s Top 3 Spring Waters
Ishka Irish Spring Water has recently achieved Grade AA Certification against the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety for the 11th year in a row. The BRC Global Standard for Food Safety is a fundamental requirement of all leading retailers.
Our source water (which comes from our on-site natural springs) and finished product are tested DAILY by an independent INAB accredited laboratory.
A note on fluoride
Ishka Irish Spring Water comes from our own on-site natural spring located in the village of Ballyneety, in County Limerick. Fluoride is not added to our spring water during the production process but fluoride is ‘naturally occurring’ in our spring water at a level of 0.08 mg/l. The legislative limit for fluoride in bottled water is 1.5 mg/l. Natural fluoride levels are analysed quarterly as part of our Quarterly Indicator Chemical Analysis suite.
Bottled Water Legislation specifically lists what must appear on the products label. Commission Directive 2003/40/EC, states that the fluoride content shall be provided in the analytical composition for all natural mineral waters with a fluoride concentration exceeding 1.5 mg/l, therefore it is only if the water contains fluoride at a level ‘greater than’ 1.5 mg/l that it must be declared on the products label.
